Montenegro Citizenship By Investment Program Extended For One More Year

Montenegro has announced that it is going to extend the Citizenship by Investment program for another year. However, some conditions of the program will be changed:

  • New projects will not be approved

  • Investors must provide the government with a bank guarantee of 50 percent of the investment within a month

  • Applicants must additionally invest 100,000 euros in the Innovation Fund (previously it was necessary to invest 100,000 euros in a special fund for the development of underdeveloped municipalities), that is, now the applicant must invest an additional 200,000 euros


“Thus, the government respects the economic activity of investments and, on the other hand, the principles of the European Union in relation to economic citizenship.” - explained the source Vijesti.


The total cost of all projects is about 450 million euros and they should lead to the creation of 2,200 new jobs. There will be about 2,800 housing units, which will increase tourist hotel occupancy by 13 percent.

There are about 2,800 accommodation units under tourism projects, which, if completed, will increase the hotel's tourism offer by about 13 percent.
