Dominica Seals Deal With Japanese Rehabilitation of Fisheries Firm

In July 2021, a project will begin to rehabilitate buildings and equipment in the Roseau and Marigot fisheries. It will be allocated 27 million Caribbean dollars by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

According to the plan, the completion of construction is scheduled for August 2022.

At the first stage, the damaged structures will be demolished, followed by restoration, waterproofing, and the purchase of equipment.

"Honourable Fidel Grant, the Minister of Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture and Food Security, said that the joint feat between the Dominican government and the Japanese firm would benefit everyone in Dominica," finance.yahoo writes

In April, the ministry signed contracts worth about 4.5 million Eastern Caribbean dollars with two regional companies to purchase agricultural tools, equipment and supplies for distribution to farmers. This should help people working in the agricultural sector.

A separate source of income for Dominica is foreign direct investment thanks to the Citizenship by Investment program. Investors can make a non-refundable contribution to the Economic Diversification Fund and obtain Dominica citizenship and passport.
