Portugal Residence permit registration has become easier
/A recent Order No. 5793-A / 2020 of the Ministerial Council simplifies the procedures for issuing a residence permit because of the health crisis.
Thanks to the order, applications from almost 250 thousand foreign citizens will be processed faster and more efficiently. These changes also apply to residence permits issued through the Golden Visa program.
A personal visit is not needed to extend a residence permit. It is enough to apply on the SEF website. Authorities will check the information in the database and send the residence permit by mail.
New supporting documents are not needed to obtain visa exemptions for a residence permit. Documents are submitted together with the visa exemption application (expression of interest).
Persons with a permit for extradition and minors are exempt from this obligation.
