IMF Forecasts Saint Kitts and Nevis To Be The Second Fastest Growing Country In The Caribbean

From 2021 to 2025, Saint Kitts and Nevis will grow at the fastest and highest rate in the entire Caribbean region after the current pandemic-driven recession, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Saint Kitts and Guyana are forecast to be the top economies in terms of growth in 2021.

"The projected growth expectation for the years 2021 and 2025 for some CARICOM countries are Guyana (8.1 percent) Barbados (7.4 percent and 1.8 percent), Belize (8 percent and 2 percent), Jamaica (3.6 percent and 2.1 percent), St. Kitts and Nevis (8 percent and 2.7 percent) and St. Lucia (7.2 percent and 1.8 percent).

For the region of Latin America and the Caribbean, the IMF projects positive growth in 2021 with a real GDP projection of 3.6 percent."

The IMF said in its World Economic Outlook report that the global economy will contract 4.4% this year. According to forecasts in June, this figure was 5.2%. However, the International Monetary Fund is quite optimistic about the growth of the global economy in 2021. The recovery will be "long, uneven and uncertain."
